Veteran actor Manoj Bajpayee received the Padma Shri award by President Ram Nath Kovind in a ceremony that took place in Delhi on Saturday (March 16).
It was announced earlier in January this year that the Gangs of Wasseypur actor would be honoured with the prestigious title in the field of Art, Acting and Films.
The actor has featured in more than 60 films including Gangs of Wasseypur, Satya, LOC Kargil, Road, Aks, Pinjar, Shool, Zubeidaa and Raajneeti among others.
The President of India tweeted, “President Kovind presents Padma Shri to Shri Manoj Bajpayee for Art (Cinema). A renowned film actor, he is known for his versatile roles and has worked in more than 60 films.”
The actor replied to the tweet and said, “It was an honour and a privilege sir @rashtrapatibhvn”
His colleagues and friends from Film Fraternity wished the actor for the great achievement.
Pointing out at the actor exuding youthfulness in the picture, Anurag Kashyap said, “Jawani aa gayi hai kaafi.. mubarak ho bhaisahab.”
