In a recent chat show, Virat Kohli credited Anushka Sharma for making him more sensible and patient in life.
With Virat Kohli turning 29 on Sunday, the debate on the possibilities of a permanent tie between the celebrated Indian skipper and B-town actress Anushka Sharma still continues – with many sources hinting towards positive news by December.
In a recent chat show with Gaurav Kapoor, Kohli credited Anushka for making him more sensible and patient in life.
Speaking at ‘Breakfast with Champions’, Kohli said, “I must thank the lady luck. You have seen me, you know I had no sense before. Ever since the lady has come into my life, she’s taught me a lot of things. I’ve learnt a lot, become more sensible in the last 4 years all because of her. She’s taught me how to be more patient and taught me how to utilise the position you are into the fullest.”
And while speculations on the relationship of one of India’s most talked about celebrity couples continues, here’s a quick look at how the ‘love story’ had been so far:
A latest television commercial depicted Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma playing a couple at a wedding. Though the advertisement grabbed the eyes of several fans, the couple made their mark in their first commercial released in 2013. Reportedly, Kohli made the Bollywood actress first during the shoot of their first commercial. Following that Virat and Anushka had been seen together at several instances – and like a wildfire, rumors spread about the two dating each other.
The speculations and rumors on the relationship of the two celebrated personalities started taking form specifically after the South Africa tour to India in 2014. Reportedly, instead of being with the teammates, Kohli directly went to Anushka’s apartment from the Mumbai airport. It was almost the same time when the two started following each other on social media.
Despite being one of the most seasoned batsman and skipper of the cricketing history, Virat was often seen surprising Anushka with his visits at the set of the Bollywood star’s movies. During the shoot of Anurag Kahsyap directorial ‘Bombay Velvet’ in Sri Lanka, Kohli clinched the headlines with his surprise visit to meet Anushka. Kohli was also seen at the set of Aamir Khan starrer PK in Udaipur – reportedly to celebrate the actress’ 26th birthday.
The couple’s first public appearance came during n Indian Super League (ISL) match in October 2014. And finally at a match against Sri Lanka in November 2014, the romantic relation between the two almost got confirmed after the cricketer blew a flying kiss towards Anushka.
The couple faced a lot of controversies during their journey together – with 2015 being the worst. During the promotion of her movie, NH10 in 2015, Anushka once lost her calm when being grilled about her relationship with the cricketer. The same year, Virat too crossed the lines to verbally abuse a journalist – though he later apologized.
However, after the release of the movie, Virat took to Twitter, to laud Anushka, saying, “Just watched #NH10 and i am blown away. What a brilliant film and specially an outstanding performance by my love @AnshkaSharma. SO PROUD :)”. And in a apt reply, Anushka wrote, “@imVkohli Thank You. So happy.”
The couple made their first official red carpet appearance together at the Vogue Beauty Awards, on July 21, 2015, in Mumbai.
The rumor on the break-up between the two surfaced on social media soon after they unfollowed each other on social media. While Anushka trolled after Kohli’s poor performances on-field, fans started commenting on their break-up after the cricketer started scoring again –with many thanking the actress for breaking up.
Enraged with the trolls on Anushka, Kohli aggressively took to social media to slam the criticizers through a SHAME post.
The couple’s patch up hit the headlines yet again when Virat was seen receiving the actress at the airport during her 28th birthday.
However, during his latest interview with Gaurav Kapoor, Kohli made it almost certain that the couple is in a healthy relationship at present. In words of praise for Anushka, Kohli said, “Sir lady luck ka kamaal hai (I’ve got to thank the lady luck). You’ve (Gaurav) seen me, you know I had no brains before. Ever since the lady has come into my life, she’s taught me a lot of things.”
“Her support helped me push through, however bad it was for me. She was a constant in that time… And then Australia happened (the tour in 2014-15 when Kohli scored four hundreds in four Tests) and I ended up scoring runs, in her presence. So it was a special thing for both of us because she also faced a lot of flak. We were being criticised and people were saying this is what happens when you allow girlfriends on the tour. I thought, “if you don’t think this is right then no one can be in a relationship,” added Kohli.
