Counting of votes has started in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram. These assembly elections are being considered as the semi-final of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections

Results of elections to assemblies of five states – Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana are due today (Tuesday, December 11).

Touted as ‘semi-finals’ for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections which are due in just a few months, the results in these are watched keenly.

Counting of votes started at 8 am today.

Trends available till noon show the Congress clearly ahead in Chhattisgarh and ahead but still not past the halfway mark in Rajasthan. Congress and BJP are neck and neck in Madhya Pradesh. In Mizoram, Mizo National Front (MNF) was ahead of the Congress while in Telangana, it was K Chandrashakehar Rao’s TRS which was way ahead and the Congress alliance trailing.
