CM assures punishment to perpetrators

In yet another shocking  heinous crime of sexual violence, a minor was gang-raped and her private parts were chopped off before throwing her out of a moving train in Bihar.

The gruesome incident took place on Sunday night when the victim, a student of Class 10, was rushed to a Patna hospital for treatment, where she is reportedly in a critical condition.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has assured the minor and her family of befitting punishment to the perpetrators of the crime.

The victim had gone to answer nature’s call early on Friday morning in the fields in Lakhisarai district, some 160 km east of Patna, when two men, Santosh Yadav and Mrityunjay Yadav, raped her. Later, six other men also took turns. She was then taken on-board a train where they repeatedly raped and wounded her private parts.

The girl was found in an unconscious state near Kiul junction by some passersby. Later her family was informed of her location by the police.

However, her woes did not end there. The district hospital refused to allot her a bed and referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for better treatment. “She has received at least two dozen stitches in her private parts, both her feet are irrevocably damaged, her thigh bone is fractured and she has serious injuries on her waist. Her condition is very critical,” said a PMCH doctor.

The police has arrested the prime accused Santosh but deny it to be a gang rape case. “We have come to know that the victim was having an affair with Santosh. We can’t say why she was attacked and raped until the investigation is finished,” said a police official.

A team, led by Lakhisarai DSP Pankaj Kumar, is investigating the matter.
