4 terrorists have been shot dead by security forces during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district today (Dec 29) morning, police said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation after receiving specific information from intelligence agencies about the presence of terrorists in Hanjan area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a police official said.
While the security forces were conducting searches, the terrorists who were hiding fired on them, the police said.
The security forces retaliated, leading to the encounter, the official added.
Adding to its victory, Indian Army has recovered two AK-47 and ammunition buried underground in Samba Sector of Jammu on the intervening night of 28-29 December.
Another encounter had taken place in Pulwama on Friday after three terrorists opened fire at security forces in Awantipora. One terrorist was killed in that encounter while two others were able to escape.
Meanwhile, a low-intensity blast took place at a bus-stand in Jammu and Kashmir. No casualties were reported.
South Kashmir witnessed the killings of 109 militants and terrorists while in north Kashmir it was 45.
In its ongoing crackdown on terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have killed more than 200 Pakistan-bred terrorists and militants so far.
