PM claims, “BJP storm has hit Kutch, Saurashtra and Gujarat and there is no chance for Congress”
Stepping up the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s election campaign in poll-bound Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reached his home state for a two day tour – during which he will be addressing rallies in Saurashtra and South Gujarat.
While the votes for the Gujarat assembly elections are set to be casted on December 9 and 14, PM Modi addressed campaign rallies in Bharuch of South Gujarat and Surendranagar & Rajkot of Saurashtra on Sunday.
Addressing the public rally in Baruch, the Prime Minister yet again hit out at the Congress party and claimed that the “BJP storm has hit Kutch, Saurashtra and Gujarat and there is no chance for Congress” in these regions.
Further hailing the saffron party’s victory in Congress bastion Amethi and playing down the leadership of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Modi said, “In Uttar Pradesh, where the Congress ruled for decades, the state from where generations of top Congress leaders belong…we saw what happened there in the local elections. Congress was wiped out. UP knows the Congress well and so does Gujarat.”
He further said,“Congress strategy is to divide people- divide people on lines of caste, community, urban-rural…all this just for power. Congress is known for making people of different caste, community fight among them. Congress has been progressing, while people have been fighting among themselves. People’s mandate to BJP and the party’s progress is pricking the Congress party,” he added.
Also hitting out at former Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi, Modi said, “In Bharuch, Rajiv Gandhi said he was its son, Indira claimed she was the daughter-in-law of the district. I ask where and how. They (Congress) had a golden time, but have they done anything for Bharuch? Have they build a bridge over Narmada or established any industry here.”
“In two years, people will throng Bharuch to see the Statue of Unity just the way they flock to see Statue of Liberty in New York. Think of the opportunities that will come with the installation of the Statue of Unity,” added Modi.
Speaking on the recently introduced Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet-train project, Modi asserted that the Rs 1.08 lakh crore project will provide employment to laborers in Bharuch. Taking a dig at former Prime Minister Manmoan Singh, Modi said, “Dr Manmohan, you showed the dream of bullet train during your rule, but you failed to acquire it. My problem with you (Congress) is that you couldn’t achieve it and now you feel bad about our achievement. You can disagree with the BJP, but playing down development of the nation is unacceptable.”
Modi claimed that the BJP government in the state has worked for drip irrigation and have encouraged farmers to use modern technologies.
“Farmers and those involved in animal husbandry will prosper with the dairy industry here. We have worked for the development of the fishing community and coastal population. Their hard work has given impetus to the fishing industry and made it the best in the country,” said Modi.
After addressing the public rallies in Bharuch, Surendranagar and Rajkot, Modi will be visiting Ahmedabad to attend a function at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Pratisthanam (SGVP).
