Out of those killed, four are children
Bharatpur: Twenty three persons, including four children, were killed and several others injured in a wall collapse at Bharatpur in Rajasthan when a severe storm lashed the city on Wednesday night.
The police said the storm hit the area when a marriage ceremony was on. The guests had taken shelter under a shed adjoining the marriage hall, when suddenly a part of the structure fell upon them. “The wall was nearly 90 feet long and 12-13 feet in height,” said Superintendent of Police Anil Tank.
“The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals immediately. One of the injured has been referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur,” Tank said.
There was a sudden change in weather condition leading to a heavy storm that caused the collapse of the wall of the marriage hall at Sewar Road, said the police.
According to the police officials the deceased have been shifted to a mortuary and post-mortem will be conducted on Thursday.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje expressed grief for the deaths and instructed officials to provide appropriate treatment to the wounded.
