The minister was denied a boarding pass by the airlines for arriving late for his flight
IndiGo, Spicejet, GoAir, AirAsia and Vistara airlines on Friday joined the bandwagon of airlines banning Telugu Desam Party MP Diwakar Reddy from all their flights.
This move comes in the backdrop of the minister creating a ruckus after he was denied a boarding pass by the IndiGo airlines for arriving late for his flight at Visakhapatnam Airport on Thursday morning.
According to a report, a video recording shows that the MP was arguing with the airline officials. The staff later complained to the airport authorities claiming that Reddy damaged a boarding pass printing machine.
“We are investigating the matter … no comments to offer till completion of a thorough investigation,” said IndiGo in a statement.
Meanwhile, Reddy evaded the questions and said that he did not misbehave with any IndiGo official.
Reddy reached the airport just 28 minutes before his flight was to take off.
Later, IndiGo approached the Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) to ban Reddy for being vexatious at the airport.
Reacting to the incident, a Vistara spokesperson said, “In support of the fellow carriers, Vistara has also taken a decision to impose a flying ban on Mr. JC Diwakar Reddy.”
A similar incident took place in 2016 where Reddy had created ruckus at the Vijayawada Airport after arriving late.
