New Delhi has strongly conveyed to Islamabad its concerns over the disappearance of the chief cleric of world-renowned Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin—Nazim Ali Nizami—and his elder brother Asif Ali Nizami—in Pakistan. They reportedly went missing before boarding a flight from Lahore to Karachi.
Sushma Swaraj, minister for external affairs, in her tweet on Friday said that she has taken up this matter with the government of Pakistan and requested them for updates on both the missing Indian nationals.
According to sources, the ministry of external affairs took up the issue with the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi after the families of the two clerics contacted government authorities. India’s High Commission in Islamabad is in constant touch with authorities there.
Meanwhile, minister for minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has emphasized that the government is working assiduously for the release of the two.
