Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the third most popular leader, ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and United States President Donald Trump, according to ‘Gallup International and CVoter Global Survey 2017: Global Ratings of Top 10 World Leaders’.
The two heads of states who are above PM Modi in ranking are German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the first and the new French President Emmanuel Macron at the second spot. British Prime Minister Theresa May is fourth, Jinping fifth, and Russian President Putin, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Sau at sixth and seventh spot respectively.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took to twitter to say he was “proud” of PM Modi for “defeating” Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump in an international survey of world’s top leaders.
“PM @narendramodi defeats Donald Trump, China’s Xi Jinping in popularity – Proud moment for every Indian,” tweeted Yogi.
The sample size of the survey conducted across 50 countries comprised of 53,769 persons, with a representative sample of around 1,000 men and women from each country who were interviewed either face-to-face, or via phone, or through online mediums.
BJP has been projecting Modi as equal in stature to Congress icon Jawaharlal Nehru when it comes to international diplomacy and the survey will further to boost this line of BJP propaganda.
