Two Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants were killed in an operation in Srinagar’s Khonmoh area on Saturday (Jan 25) morning.

A police spokesman said a cordon and search operation(CASO) was launched on Saturday morning jointly by police and security forces in Khonmoh after getting reliable input about the presence of militants.

“The search party was fired upon by the militants. In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter,” said the police.

Preliminary reports suggest the militants belonged to JeM outfit. However, the police said their identities and affiliations were being ascertained.

The police warned citizens against venturing inside encounter zone.

In another incident, terrorists lobbed grenade at a CRPF camp in Pulwama. The grenade exploded outside the camp. No causalities have been reported yet.
