Congress MLA in Karnataka, Umesh Jadhav, today (Wednesday, March 6) joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha election.
“I am very happy and very proud to be a part of BJP. They have welcomed me very well. I beg you to give me a chance because a nationalist party and Modi gained world renown,” Jadhav said.
Jadhav who submitted his resignation to the Speaker of Karnataka Assembly on March 4, was speaking at a venue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event in Kalaburagi, Karnataka.
“We have to write a new history in Kalaburagi. We need your support. I beg the people to give me an opportunity,” he said.
Former Karnataka CM and senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa was also present at the event.
It is speculated that Jadhav could contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election against senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge from Gulbarga constituency.
Jadhav is a two-time MLA from Chincholi constituency.
