Three-time Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has been appointed President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.
Her appointment comes days after Ajay Maken resigned from his post citing health issues.
The former Delhi Congress chief congratulated Dikshit on her appointment. He said the Congress will play the role of an opposition against the governments in the national capital and at the Centre.
Congress’s PC Chacko also praised the development. Sources said she will have a few working presidents to assist her.

Eighty-year-old Dikshit has been a three-time chief minister of Delhi.
After Maken resigned last week, Dikshit indicated that she won’t back out if the post of state Congress chief comes her way. ” The decision has to be taken by the high command. I can’t refuse or accept to take the post. Let me see what the party decides,” she said then.
Despite being voted out of power in 2013 after a 15-year reign in Delhi, Dikshit enjoys popularity in the national capital because of the infrastructural transformation she has brought about in Delhi, including the Delhi Metro.
