Former Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday (March 5) took a jibe at the new directive of Air India which has asked its all cabin and cockpits crew to say ‘Jai Hind’ after every flight announcement made on board and with much fervor.
“Little surprise that with General Elections round the corner the josh of patriotism hasn’t even spared the skies,” she tweeted.
An official advisory issued by Air India on Monday (March 4) said “With immediate effect all are required to announce ‘Jai Hind’ at the end of every announcement of a slight and with much fervor.”
The national carrier which has around 3500 cabin crew and over 1200 cockpit crew passed the directive, issued days after Ashwani Lohani took charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Air India once again.
Lohani had issued the same directive earlier as his previous tenure of Air India Chief in 2016 as well.
Meanwhile, BJP senior leader Subramanian Swamy slammed Mufti over her jibe on Air India’s order. Swami while speaking to Times Now said- “Why she is hitting out, she wants to say As-Salaam-Alaikum? And what we have been saying-Good Morning? These English things were being said..Why?”
Swami also said what was wrong with “Jai Hind”. “It’s a call of our independence. Even Indira Gandhi, when she concluded her speeches, she used to say Jai Hind,” he said.
