In another embarrassing development for Pakistan, Head of General Security for Dubai has appreciated Indian community for being disciplined and criticised Pakistanis for being involved in criminal activities and smuggling drugs to the Gulf countries.

According to uaeviral.com, Dhahi Khalfan, Head of General Security for Dubai posted a tweet on April 1 saying, “The Pakistanis pose a serious threat to the Gulf communities because they bring drugs to our countries. We must impose strict procedures at the entrances [of our countries].”

The senior Dubai official compared Pakistanis with Indians saying, “Why Indians are disciplined? While sedition, criminality and smuggling in the Pakistani community are rampant?”

Khalfan, who was the head of Dubai Police Force until 2013, also advised UAE nationals saying “I invite our citizens to not employ Pakistanis”.

These tweets came right after the Dubai authorities arrested gang of Pakistanis for smuggling drugs. It seems the Dubai official has taken a stand to hold all Pakistanis worldwide responsible for the gang’s actions.

The Dubai police official’s tweet was also carrying a photo apparently showing three Pakistani smugglers, along with the drugs allegedly recovered from them.

However, Dawn, a leading newspaper from Pakistan reported that a top Emirati security official, known for making controversy-catching remarks on wide-ranging issues, took to Twitter to denounce Pakistanis, accusing them of being a “dangerous threat to Gulf societies”.

Dubai compares disciplined Indians to criminal PakistanisKhalfan has suggested that Pakistanis should be subjected to increased inspection, similar to what Bangladeshis had to face “because of the criminal tendencies”.

He explained about UAE authorities’ attitude towards Bangladeshi workers saying, “We became strict with the Bengalis because of the criminal tendencies they have shown. Pakistanis must be placed under an increased level of inspection.”

Dhahi Khalfan has over 2.66 million followers on his verified Twitter account.

Pakistanis are the second largest national group in the UAE after Indians, constituting 12.5 percent of the country’s total population. They are the third largest overseas Pakistani community, behind the Pakistani Diaspora in Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
