North Korea calls Trump’s Asia tour a warmonger’s visit for milking moneybags
In a clear warning to Kim Jong Un administration at Pyongyang, US and South Korea have started four-day joint naval exercises at South Korea’s eastern coast involving three U.S. aircraft carriers on Saturday.
President Donald Trump continues a visit to Asia that has been dominated by discussions over the North Korean threat. He is on 12-day five-nation Asia trip. He has already visited Japan, South Korea and China. Now he is in Vietnam for attending Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. At the last leg of his Asia tour he will be in Philippines for participating inUS-ASEAN Summit in Manila.
According to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, the battle groups of the USS Ronald Reagan, the Theodore Roosevelt and the Nimitz will enter the exercise area during the drills. Three carriers will be likely together around Monday, according to a South Korean military source who did not like to be named.
It will also involve 11 U.S. Aegis ships and seven South Korean vessels, including two Aegis ships. The Aegis technology refers to missile defense system.
According to US Navy’s 7th Fleet, this is the first time since the joint naval exercise held in 2007 near Guam. The U.S. carriers will also participate in separate exercises with Japan.
In recent months, North Korea has tested intercontinental ballistic missiles and conducted it’s most powerful nuclear test. Pyongyang also flew two missiles over Japan. Kim has threatened to hit Guam, an incorporated US pacific territory.
Trump has recently reiterated a sharp warning to North Korea during his speech in South Korea’s parliament saying, “Do not underestimate us. And do not try us.”
Meanwhile, North Korea’s foreign ministry spokesperson, on Saturday, said in Pyongyang that Trump’s current trip to “our surrounding region” is a warmonger’s visit for confrontation to rid the DPRK of its self defensive nuclear deterrence.
He further said that it is nothing but a business trip by a warmonger to enrich the monopolies of the US defense industry by milking the moneybags from its subordinate “allies”. Name of the spokesperson was not revealed in state media reports.
