Three Bharatiya Janata Party workers were killed in a terror attack on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The incident took place in YK Pora area when terrorists fired at them. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment where they were declared brought dead.
According to the police, they received the information about the terror incident at 2020 hours following which senior officials reached the spot. The three were rushed to the hospital, but they were declared brought dead. The three workers have been identified as Fida Hussain Yatoo, Umer Rashid Beigh and Umer Ramzan Hajam.
The incident was condemned by prime minister Narendra Modi who took to Twitter to express his condolences. The PM tweeted that he condemns the killing of 3 young party workers who were doing great work in Jammu and Kashmir. He added that his thoughts were with the families in this time of grief.
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah too condemned the attack on Twitter. Calling the news terrible, Abdullah said he condemns the targeted attack on BJP workers. His sentiments were echoed by Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti who launched an attack on the government while condemning the incident. She said at the end of the day, it is people of J&K who pay with their lives because of Indian government’s ill thought out policies.
Meanwhile, a case of murder has been registered by the police, The entire area has been cordoned off and the search for terrorists is on.
In past few months, several BJP leaders have been killed in various terror attacks. BJP leader Sheikh Wasim, his brother and his father were killed by terrorists in Bandipora. In August, a BJP sarpanch was shot dead in Kulgam.
