Five out of 406 evacuees who were airlifted from China’s Wuhan city and kept at a quarantine centre in Manesar has shifted to Army Base Hospital in New Delhi after they started developing symptoms of cough and cold, reports The Economic Times.
So far, three people have been tested positive for the novel virus in the southern state of Kerala.
The Union government has also set up a task force to monitor the situation arising out of the novel coronavirus with representatives from the Ministries of Health, Home, Civil Aviation and Women and Child Development, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy.
“A task force has been set up to monitor novel coronavirus situation. The first meeting of the task force will be held today. We will discuss what all precautions need to be taken to prevent the spread of the virus,” Reddy said.
At least 425 people have died in China, with more than 20,000 cases of the virus testing positive. Cases have also been reported in 18 other countries with 98 confirmed cases outside China.
Coronavirus has been declared a global emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO), as the outbreak continued to spread outside China. Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province remains the most affected place by the virus.
