APN Special Report Vishwas Aaghat covers the crisis
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has, for the time being, managed to avert a crisis created by its Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan, who alleged Kumar Vishwas, a founder AAP leader, of being an agent of the BJP.
The party’s highest body, the Political Affairs Committee (PAC), nominated Vishwas as the in-charge for Rajasthan affairs for the next assembly elections and suspended Khan from his primary membership till the investigations were complete.
This was preceded by high-level meetings through Tuesday night to reconcile Kumar Vishwas. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia visited Vishwas’ residence and took him for more serious discussions to the CM’s residence.
APN carried a special report ‘Vishvas Aaghat’ on May 3, about the fast moving developments within the AAP leadership for last several days. The 30-minute program was enriched with five packages covering the recent developments, background of the present crisis which erupted after differences in the post-surgical strike across LoC. One of the packages covered the diminishing popularity of the party with statistics on reducing voter percentage in the MCD election.
The party has faced a series of losses in the Assembly elections in Punjab and Goa along with a defeat in the Delhi Assembly bypoll and municipal corporation elections.
