Acer confirms data breach in India, over 60 GB data accessed, claim hackers

A data breach took place at Acer company, and Acer has confirmed it and said that the data breach took place on its after-sales system in India. They said that this attack was an isolated attack and the appropriate authorities had been informed about that.

Acer Corporate Communications spokesperson told BleepingComputer that after detection, they immediately initiated the security protocols and they conducted a full scan of their systems. Currently, the Acer company is notifying all its affected customers in India.

Acer has reported the attack to local law enforcement and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team.

According to reports, the hackers have stolen more than 60 GB data from Acer’s servers. There are reports that the file includes corporate, client, financial data and login details of various retailers and distributors for Acer in the country.

Miklos Zoltan, Founder, and CEO of Privacy Affairs, a data privacy and cybersecurity research firm said that they have found customer data that appears to be accurate and genuine after contacting multiple affected individuals from the released data.

In other news, 20 years after the mega release of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Sunny Deol on Friday took to Twitter to announce the sequel of his 2001 blockbuster. After two decades, the duo of Tara Singh and Sakeena is set to reunite for the sequel. Helmed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 will feature Sunny Deol and Sakeena aka Ameesha Patel. Gadar 2 will also star Utkarsh Sharma – son of director Anil Sharma – who played the son of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, in the lead role alongside Sunny Deol.
