The President of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj, was found dead at Baghambari Gaddi Math in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on Monday.
Akhada Parishad Chief Narendra Giri found hanging, disciple Anand Giri detained
According to reports, Giri’s body was found hanging on the ceiling inside the Sri Math Baghambari Gaddi. The police have detained Yoga Guru Anand Giri as his name was mentioned in the suicide note found from the room. In the note named his disciple and two others responsible for his death. An investigation into the incident is underway.
UP ADG, Prashant Kumar, has said that Anand Giri is being brought to UP for further questioning. The deceased postmortem and cremation will be conducted by Tuesday afternoon.
Anand Giri has said that Mahant cannot commit suicide and he suspects murder. It claimed that it is a conspiracy by people who managed the money of the math and mandir. The accused has also demanded an impartial inquiry into the matter by the government. The disciple also named few names that may be involved in the conspiracy.

Condoling the death of Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi tweeted, “The death of Akhara Parishad President Shri Narendra Giri ji is extremely sad. While devoted to spiritual traditions, he played a big role in connecting many streams of Sant Samaj together.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared condolences. “The president of Akhara Parishad Shri Narendra Giri Ji`s entire life was devoted to the promotion, upliftment, and human service of spirituality and religion. We have lost a resplendent constellation of Sanatan culture due to his demise. I pray to God to give place to the departed soul in his feet. Om Shanti”, he tweeted.
