Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday announced that after September 15, the government employees who have not taken a single dose of Covid vaccine will be sent on compulsory leave. However, this decision will not apply to those who have not been vaccinated due to any disease.
According to an official statement, the Chief Minister has taken this tough decision to save people from the epidemic. Apart from this, it should be ensured that vaccinated people do not get infected by people who have not been vaccinated, the statement read. In the high level meeting on Friday, the CM said the vaccine effectiveness is evident from the data being analysed.
RTPCR report to be submitted on weekly basis
Amarinder Singh said many special efforts are being made to vaccinate the government employees and those who who continue to avoid getting vaccinated, will be sent on leave till the first dose of vaccine is administered. During this time, teachers and other staff who have taken the vaccine dose before four weeks will also be allowed to return to duty, but they will have to submit negative RTPCR test report on a weekly basis. With this, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said that those who are suffering from other diseases will be allowed to join only after getting the full dose of vaccination.
School Education Secretary Krishan Kumar had already made it clear that at present only the teachers who have received both the doses of the vaccine, will be allowed to come to school. Health Minister Balbir Sidhu had suggested that the gap between the two vaccines for school staff should be reduced to 28 days, but Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan said the Center has rejected this request.
On the other hand, the existing restrictions of Covid in Punjab have been increased once again. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered extension of the existing Covid restrictions till 30th September in view of the upcoming festive season. According to this, as well as political gatherings, only 300 people can gather at all meetings and strict enforcement of social distance along with wearing masks.
