Hospitalised last week, actor loses battle with bladder cancer
Bollywood icon Vinod Khanna, who has been ailing from cancer, died in a Mumbai hospital on April 27. He was 70. The veteran actor breathed his last at 11.20 am, the hospital said. Khanna was suffering from advanced bladder carcinoma.
According to reports in Hindustan Times, an official in Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Girgaon said, “Doctors and family were expecting a recovery but somehow his condition escalated and he succumbed this afternoon.”
Khanna, who was sitting MP from BJP from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab, was hospitalised last week following severe dehydration but reports said that he became stable later and started responding to treatment.
Earlier, a photo of the actor went viral on social media where he looked extremely unwell sparking concern from fans.
Khanna starred in as many as 146 films. Some of his best remembered works include Mere Apne, Insaaf and Amar, Akbar, Anthony. His last appearance was in Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale (2015)
He tied the knot twice and is survived by his four children—sons Akshaye and Rahul, and daughters Sakshi and Shraddha.
