After the success of ‘Mission Mangal’, actress Vidya Balan is all set to shoot for her forthcoming biopic on the life of the math wizard, Shakuntala Devi and its first look is quite impressive.
In the first look of the film, the actress is shown flaunting a short bob cut and a saree.
In an interview with PTI, Vidya had spoken about doing the film and her views on being cast for it. She said, “I am extremely excited to play the ‘human computer’ Shakuntala Devi on the big screen. She was truly someone who embraced her individuality, had a strong feminist voice and braved many a naysayer to reach the pinnacle of success.” “How incredible that The Math Genius, The Human Computer, was a small-town Indian girl, who took the world by storm,” she added.
Shakuntala’s genius was first discovered at the age of 5, when she solved a math problem meant for 18-year-old students. She never received any formal education but her talent for numbers earned her a place in the 1982 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records. Apart from her love for mathematics, she was an astrologer, cookbook author and a novelist.
The film will be directed by Anu Menon and produced by Vikram Malhotra-led Abundantia Entertainment. “I have always been fascinated by Shakuntala Devi and felt that hers is an incredible story that had to be told. She was an extraordinary woman, who lived ahead of her times and on her own terms, unapologetically,” said Menon.
The film is set to release in summer, 2020.
