Former Union Minister Babul Supriyo marked his exit from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday, and he joined Trinamool Congress (TMC). He said that he was not fine with being benched in the party, and he was disillusioned in BJP.
Supriyo further said that he did sever years of hard work in the party and not even his detractors will say that he did not fought in the party or he did not do good work for the party. He concluded by saying that he did feel disillusioned in the party.
Babul Supriyo also said that he felt he should move to a party where the coach would want him in the team and welcome him with open arms. He also explained that everything happened in the past three days and nobody sent him any feelers. Supriyo also said that TMC’s Derek O Brien told him about this opportunity
Earlier, he wanted to quit politics as his name was dropped from the Union Minister of State for Environment, he also said at that time that he is one team player and he is not going to join any other party.
However, a month later, he quit BJP and joined Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress. After quitting BJP, he said that in life several things happen to you, and you respond to them in a manner that you feel is appropriate. He also said that he is really not fine with sitting on one particular bench.
Notably, Babul Supriyo is the fifth BJP leader, after four MLAs, to join the West Bengal Chief Minister’s party after it won the assembly election in May and then retained power.
