Later, the actor herself revealed that she is playing Mrs. Indira Gandhi in the film.

The actor went on to say that she received a call from the makers about playing the former PM in the movie. The makers had told her that the film was being made and they are casting for Indira Gandhi’s role. She accepted the offer before hearing the script.

Given the dramatic events that were unfolding, Gandhi was somebody who was extremely centered and not really prone to any dramatics. So it was important to portray her in that form, said the actor.  She had a great time. A lot of homework and research went behind the scenes, it was an opportunity of a lifetime that she is thankful for, she added.
