Twitter on Thursday witnessed a hate campaign against Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The campaign, led by BJP’s State In-Charge of Information Technology Department in Haryana, Arun Yadav, used the hashtag- #BoycottShahRukhKhan.
The campaign was triggered by Khan’s statement earlier statements on Pakistani cricketers which has now gone viral. Shah Rukh Khan’s pictures with Imran Khan have also gone viral on social media. Yadav made multiple tweets asking people to boycott Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. He retweeted multiple tweets that use Islamophobic slurs and accuse the actor of siding with Pakistan.
A Twitter user accused Shah Rukh Khan of insulting Sushant Singh Rajput, who died by suicide on June 14, 2020. The tweet read: Sushant always admired and respected SRK. But SRK instead of supporting back, always insulted Sushant.
Another tweet read: Not only #BoycottShahRukhKhan boycott complete Bollywood Gang who managed to spread hate against Hindus through their movies. Support only those movies created by nationalists.
Another user wrote: SRK show our hindu king ashoka in bad light… Where Ajay devgn and Akshay Kumar making movies on Tanhaji and Prithviraj chauhan he is making movie on pathan…I mean its spy action movie so why dont they give him hindu name, Why praising pathan in india.
However, to counter this hate, fans of SRK came to the rescue. Fans across India stormed Twitter with a counter hashtag- #WeLoveShahRukhKhan.
Fans recalled all the kind gestures of the actor to prove that he is not just a good actor but also a virtuous human being.
One fan wrote, “The only Indian actor with the maximum number of doctorates for his Charity work and the only Indian actor to receive the UNESCO award for charity Bharat ki Shaan, Shah Rukh Khan.”
