Delhi weekend curfew: Know the timings of metros and buses, what will remain open and shut?

Amid the rise in Covid-19 cases in the national capital, the Delhi government has imposed various restrictions in order to prevent the spread of the virus. Delhi in this wave is breaking the record of most number of Covid-19 cases reported in a single day since the beginning of the pandemic.

Considering the daily spike of Covid-19 cases in the national capital, the AAP government has decided to impose night curfews and weekend curfews in the city. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that although the cases are on a surge still there is no need to worry as hospitalisation and death rates are low as compared to the last wave.

Here’s a look at what will remain open and shut during the 2-day curfew: Weekend curfew starts on Friday at 10 pm and will continue till 5 am on Monday.

During the curfew, metro and public transport buses will run at full capacity, but no standing commuters will be permitted.

Metros running on the Yellow line between Huda City Centre to Samaypur Badli will be available at a frequency of 15 minutes and metros running between Dwarka Sec-21 to Noida Electronic City/Vaishali will be available at a frequency of 20 minutes.

Trains will run every 20 minutes during the curfew on all other lines. The e-passes for essential services that were given last week will be valid during the curfew.

Except for those selling essential goods and services like groceries, vegetables and fruits, medications, and milk, all markets would be closed during the curfew.

Meanwhile, the national capital reported 25,383 Covid-19 cases and 34 fatalities on Friday in the last 24 hours. However, the positivity rate has increased to 30.64 percent, showing that every third coronavirus sample obtained in the last 24 hours resulted in a positive result.

There are 92,273 recent cases in the capital, including 64,831 in-home isolation. According to the statistics, the Friday positivity rate was the highest since May 1 of last year, when it was 31.61 percent.
