With speculations regarding his retirement still rife, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has dropped former captain MS Dhoni from the centrally contracted list of players.
The BCCI announced the central contracts on Thursday for the period of October 2019 to September 2020.
Until last year, Dhoni was in the A category, which paid him Rs 5 crore annually.
Skipper Virat Kohli, and limited-overs vice captain Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah were retained in the highest A+ bracket of Rs 7 crore.
Batsman KL Rahul has been promoted from Grade B to A after a series of good performances in limited-overs cricket.
The dropped list also includes retired player Ambati Rayudu and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik.
Test opener Mayank Agarwal has been added to Grade B which also features Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal who will be receiving Rs 3 crore each annually.
Fast bowlers Shardul Thakur and Navdeep Saini have been included in the Grade C list, which pays them Rs 1 crore per annum.

Grade A: Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant.
Grade B: Wriddhiman Saha, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Mayank Agarwal.
Grade C: Kedar Jadhav, Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar, Manish Pandey, Hanuma Vihari, Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar.
