The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday carried out raids at ten locations linked to Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik in Maharashtra in connection with a money laundering case.
Raids are being conducted in Thane and Mumbai under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The Enforcement Directorate has detained, Vihang Sarnaik, son of Pratap Sarnaik from his home, news agency ANI reported.
Sarnaik represents the Ovala-Majiwada Vidhan Sabha constituency in Thane. He is also Shiv Sena’s Maharashtra Spokesperson and the Communication Leader for Mira-Bhayandar area.
Sarnaik was recently in news for demanding sedition case against Kangana Ranaut for comparing Maharashtra to Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena chief spokesperson lashed out at the ED and Bhartiya Janata Party and said if anybody thinks they can use central agencies and form a government they are mistaken. No matter how many notices or such raids are carried out, none of our legislators will be pressurized and bow down to you. This is mere politics. The Enforcement Directorate should not behave as a branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Today Pratap Sarnaik and his sons are not in Mumbai and this raid was carried out.
Meanwhile, former chief minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis said he wasn’t aware of the ED’s raids on Pratap Sarnaik’s properties. The Enforcement Directorate does not conduct raids without solid evidence, he added.
