The security forces on Friday seized over 100 gelatin sticks and 350 detonators from a train passenger at the Kozhikode Railway station in Kerala.
According to the reports, the Railway Protection Force seized the explosives from a woman passenger, identified as Ramani, travelling from Chennai to Thalassery on the Chennai-Mangalapuram Express in Kozhikode.
The Kerala Police has arrested Ramani who is reportedly a native of Tamil Nadu. She admitted carrying the gelatin sticks and detonators for digging wells, the sources said.The explosive was found from under the seat where the lady was sitting.
However, the police have launched an investigation and the incident is being probed from all angles. The police are suspecting whether the explosives were being taken for works in quarries or for terror operations. The locals are being questioned by the state police to trace the origin of the explosives.

Meanwhile, a similar incident took place on Thursday where police have seized explosives from a suspicious SUV near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence in South Mumbai.
The SUV was found with a fake number plate and gelatin sticks and a letter were recovered inside it on Carmichael Road near Antilia, said Mumbai Police. In the CCTV footage, it has been found that unidentified people parked it at around 1am on Thursday.
According to the reports, the gelatin sticks recovered in the SUV were not an assembled explosive device. An FIR has been registered and a probe has been launched.
