Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah attended the wedding of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s granddaughter. Taking a break from his usual parliamentarian routine, the 83-year-old veteran politician was seen shaking a leg to the song from the 1968 Bollywood film ‘Brahmachari’.

Abdullah was attending the wedding of Seharinder Kaur, daughter of Amarinder Singh’s son Raninder Singh. Seherinder Kaur, the granddaughter of Punjab CM Amarinder Singh got married Delhi-based businessman Aaditya Narang at the politician’s Siswan farmhouse in Chandigarh on Sunday.
In the viral video, Farooq Abdullah can be seen lip-synching and grooving with the popular Shammi Kapoor song and then jovially ropes Singh to dance with him. Even the Punjab CM is seen swaying to the music in the video. The two veteran leaders were grooving to the beats of ‘Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche’ and ‘Gulabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi’, both sung by Mohammed Rafi in the late 1960s and 70s.
Netizens reacted to video with love with many finding it heartwarming to see the political leaders dance with such delight. The video was shared by Congress National Convener Saral Patel, he tweeted that this video of Singh and Abdullah proves that age is, indeed, just a number. Among others, the video was shared by Nasir Khuehami, a humanitarian and an activist on Twitter.
Last year in March, Amarinder Singh had welcomed the National Conference leader who was released from house arrest following detention under the Public Safety Act. Sharing a photo of Abdullah with him, he had tweeted that he was happy to find him in good cheer. In his tweet, Singh had also written that Abdullah’s release is an important step towards an enduring and amicable resolution of the issue.
