Due to the formation of AUKUS (a trilateral pact between Australia, UK and US) has left Paris in rage, thus France has backed off from the trilateral meeting with Australia and India, that was scheduled on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Earlier, it was scheduled that in the trilateral, external affairs minister S Jaishankar was supposed to hold deliberations with his counterpart from France (Jean Yves Le Drian) and Australia (Maris Payne). However, the meet got cancelled because France pulled out due to the formation of AUKUS.
What is AUKUS Military Pact?
In the latest development, Australia, the UK and the US announced that a new defence and security partnership will be formed between them. In the trilateral partnership, Australia will be able to purchase and deploy nuclear-powered submarines in the Indo-Pacific region with the help of the UK and the US. Apart from this, this trilateral will also focus to curb China’s growing military. Moreover, there will also be an emphasis on areas like artificial intelligence, cyber and quantum technologies.
It is also reportedly said that after the Biden-Macron conversation, the relations of the US and France is likely to improve. However, Australia’s relationship with France need to wait for a little but there is a high chance that it will improve, and the pact will come as a good thing for several nations.
In other news, a 15-year-old girl was gang-raped by 29 people, including two minors, over the course of nine months in Maharashtra’s Dombivli, the police said on Thursday. Based on the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case against 29 people. So far, the police have arrested 26 accused under the POCSO Act and the search is on remaining accused.
