The Border Action Team had killed and mutilated two soldiers earlier this month in Poonch
The Indian army foiled an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) on a patrol party along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir and killed two infiltrating terrorists on Friday.
“A BAT action against Indian Army patrol along LoC in Uri sector was today foiled. Two BAT militants were killed and search operation in the area is going on,” Indian Army spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said.
According to defence sources, the bodies of the two slain BAT terrorists were not retrieved as they are lying in “no man’s” land along the LoC.
BAT has attacked Indian personnel and post several times and is accused of raids, assaults and brutality on the LoC. Recently, two Indian soldiers were killed and their bodies mutilated in a BAT attack in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is reported that Pakistan’s Special Services Group forms the core of BAT and carries out such attacks by providing command and cover to the militants.
