Political parties and their candidates have been using all possible means to attract voters. And, as campaigning for the fourth phase of polling in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections peaks, the BJP candidate from Charkhari constituency in Mahoba district, Brijbhushan Rajput, has hired lookalikes of Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan to pitch for him.
In Charkhari, where polling will be held on February 23, the other prominent candidates are Urmila Devi of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Jitendra Kumar Mishra of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). In 2012, senior BJP leader Uma Bharti had defeated her SP rival, Kaptan Singh, by over 25,000 votes.
The lookalikes were seen campaigning for Rajput on February 20. As they addressed voters, they began by imitating the well-known dialogue of the stars and then followed it up with political speeches supporting the BJP. At the end, they appealed to the voters to support Rajput alias Guddu on polling day.
Earlier, APN had reported that lookalikes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah had campaigned for the party candidate in Meerut constituency.
