Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday allocated ₹3,84,659 crore, to fulfill his poll promise of a crop loan waiver. He also doled out an amount of ₹50 crore to enable free data services for students of degree colleges across the State while presenting its first Budget for the year 2017-18.These services would be available to the students from the current academic session.
The State Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal presented the maiden budget of ₹3.84 lakh crore in the Assembly which showed a deficit of ₹7,468 crore.This budget also provided ₹55,781 crore for the new schemes with some named after the RSS ideologues and for the promotion of religious and cultural tourism etc.
According to a report, the State government has also made a budgetary provision of ₹15 crore for completing under construction rooms in educational institutions. Another ₹5 crore was allocated for Jannayak Chandrashekhar State University in Ballia district. The government has also sanctioned Rs 27 crore for the completion of new government engineering colleges in Sonbhadra, Kannauj and Mainpuri.
It also made an allocation of ₹50 lakh for the developing a software for online affiliation of new colleges and universities.
A sum of ₹25 crore was allocated for making 166 Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Government Modern Schools for promoting secondary education. The State government has also allocated ₹551.94 crore for Rashtriya Madhyamik Sikshak Sangh and additional ₹2.54 crore for distribution of midday meal in primary and upper primary schools.
Notably, there was no allocation of fund for changing the old transmission lines at the time when the State is facing the high power shortage. However, under the previous Akhilesh Yadav government, ₹23,000 crore were set aside for the same.
Moreover, India’s first super thermal power plant at Obra has also been shut down under the CM Yogi Aditya Nath regime.
