Dead body of a minor girl who was sexually assaulted and murdered with her throat slit was found in the outskirts of Hyderabad, hours after her parents filed a missing complaint.
Police said that the girl was raped and killed around Thursday afternoon. This incident took place in the area which falls under the jurisdiction of Alwal Police Station.
Officials told media outlets that the six-year-old girl’s body was found lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit in the bushes on the night of March 21.
According to the report published by TOI, the accused was arrested on Friday (March 22) and has confessed to the crime.
Police said the youth was part of a bigger group of youngsters who participated in the Holi celebration.
He lured the child to an isolated place near a railway track and raped her, police said.
“When she resisted, he stabbed her using a metal rod. The girl suffered serious injuries, yet the accused raped her”, said the police.
The accused had even purchased snacks for girl’s brother minutes before the crime.
As per the information given by the girl’s parents, the victim had left the house for playing Holi in the morning. When she did not return home till the afternoon, parents made an attempt to find her. In the evening, they approached the police after failing to find their daughter.
They filed missing complaint of the girl at around 8 pm. Police registered a case of abduction, said DCP (Balanagar zone) P V Padmaja.
Three teams were constituted to track down the girl. Police and residents searched the area and one of the locals found the body inside some bushes close to the railway track.
Police found a deep cut on the child’s neck and signs of sexual abuse. The body was shifted to a hospital where rape was confirmed.
When police questioned residents including the girl’s family, her brother told them that she was last seen going with a boy who was part of the group playing Holi, DCP Padmaja said.
