The Indian Army had said yesterday in a statement that two of its soldiers had been killed and mutilated by Pakistani troops on Monday in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch
As tension between India and Pakistan develops over the killing and mutilation of two Indian soldiers in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, New Delhi has summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Monday in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district when the Pakistani Army is said to have attacked a patrol team of Border Security Force. The Indian Army has assured an “appropriate response” to the “despicable act”.
“Pakistan army carried out unprovoked rocket and mortar firing on two forward posts along the Line of Control in Krishna Ghati sector. Simultaneously, a Border Action Team (BAT) action was launched on a patrol operating in between the two posts. In an unsoldierly act by the Pak Army, the bodies of two of our soldiers in the patrol were mutilated,” said the Indian Army in a statement.
The new provocation by Pakistan army has escalated tension between the two countries which are already strained over several issues including the death penalty given to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav on charges of spying and Pakistan’s constant remarks on Kashmir issue.
