Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat‘, a monthly radio address program, has completed three years on Sunday. During his 30 minute address he called the monthly address as a platform where people convey their sentiments and ideas to be shared with the whole country.
On this occasion, he outlined that the issues discussed during the monthly radio address were converted into successful peoples’ movement with huge participation across the length and breadth of the country.
Prime Minister said that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has succeeded in creating awareness among the masses where people became more conscious and responsible in making India clean.
He said that people from various walks of life are overwhelmingly participating in the Swatchta Bharat Abhiyaan or cleanliness drive throughout the country. He also thanked media for disseminating and promoting the cleanliness drive. Prime Minister launched the campaign on 2nd October 2014.
He also asserted that awareness for using Khadi products was another success story. He claimed that during these years people have started using more Khadi products generating more employment in the industry.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Khadi is not just a cloth but a philosophy. He asked youth to adopt ‘Khadi’ to take forward this movement. He said that promoting Khadi will not only economically empower the poor but it will also generate employment opportunities.
Prime Minister’s appeal to people in his earlier episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, to adopt and promote Khadi has been yielding desired results as the khadi-denim variant are getting wide acceptance. Khadi has its own unique history as it was associated with the country’s freedom struggle.
Prime Minister also remembered great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jayaprakash Narayan and Nanaji Deskhmukh saying they were born in the month of October. Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhay, known for his simplicity, was born on 25 September.
Remembering A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who was again born in October, Prime Minister said that, former president, while addressing youth, would always quote Nanaji Deshmukh’s model for the development of rural areas.
Prime Minister said that these great leaders gave us a new direction for nation building through their leadership and ideas in the 20th and 21st century. He said that we all should remember them to move ahead on the path of progress and growth.
On the last Sunday each month Prime Minister address the nation through “Mann ki Baat” which is made available on All India Radio and Doordarshan along with live stream on the YouTube channels of the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Akashwani also broadcast its translated versions in regional languages once the Prime Minister completes his address in Hindi.
