A nine-year-old boy allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl in Bagbera area of Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district, police said on Saturday (Dec 29).
The accused, minor, had committed the crime on December 12, and the girl’s grandparents registered a complaint on Sunday, they said.
A case has been registered against the boy and he has been forwarded to the custody of the Juvenile Justice Board, said Pushpa Rani Tirkey, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee, East Singhbhum.
“We are awaiting the medical report of the victim, which was conducted on Thursday,” Deputy Superintendent of Police (L/O) Alok Ranjan said. Further investigation into the incident is underway, the DSP said
In another unrelated incident, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her classmate along with another unidentified boy in Bhopal on December 25.
After the survivor’s parents approached the police, a case was registered against the accused under IPC section 376 and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Govindpura police station.
The alleged crime took place near the girl’s house. A special investigation team (SIT) had been made to investigate the case. The police were interrogating the accused boy and his parents. No arrests had been made as the accused boy was a minor.
