IPL 2020 Chennai Super Kings, who are already out of the race for playoffs, will play for pride as they take on Kolkata Knight Riders in an Indian Premier League match on Thursday. KKR with 12 points from as many games are desperately in need of wins in the next two games to increase their chances of making it to the top-four stage of the tournament.
CSK are currently positioned at the bottom of the points’ table with nothing to lose. Their recent win over Royal Challengers Bangalore must have given them confidence and the yellow army would be looking to foil KKR’s chances of qualifying for playoffs as well. Kolkata have been inconsistent throughout the tournament and will be looking to get back to form and deliver collectively at this crucial juncture of the tournament. Morgan’s boys have registered three victories in their last five games and have a huge task ahead of them
The race for playoffs is pretty interesting at the moment and it is likely that multiple teams will end with 14-16 points so the teams with a higher run rate will qualify for the next stage. The statistics are not in KKR’s favourite either as the yellow army has won more matches whenever the two sides have locked horns in the IPL. However, things are different this time around with CSK languishing at the bottom of the table and KKR have a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the situation.
