Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will square off against Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. While CSK will be looking to register their third victory of the season, KKR would be hoping for a change in fortunes and get back to winning ways having lost to Delhi Capitals by 18 runs in their last outing. Chennai, on the other hand, has finally started to look like a strong team following two back-to-back wins after three consecutive losses in the initial games.
Chennai will be hoping for fireworks from Faf du Plessis who has been the most reliable batsman for the camp in the season so far. Shane Watson is another asset for the team and played a key role in CSK’s last outing against KXIP. In the bowling department, Piyush Chawla, Shardur Thakur and Sam Kurran are in good form and will be expected to guide their team to another win. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has done well with both bat and ball so far and is likely to play a crucial role in today’s game.
As for KKR, the star-studded team has not been able to impress much in the tournament so far. Skipper Dinesh Karthik has made some baffling decisions in the tournament so far, which has put him in the line of fire. KKR have plenty of sources in both the bowling and the batting department, but Karthik has not been able to utilise them well resulting in his team’s lacklustre performance.
Expressing confidence that his team will be able to give a tough fight to CSK, KKR’s Rahul Tripathi said that the team has been practicing at this venue for a long time, which would benefit the team as it has adapted to the conditions well.
