The Indian Premier League (IPL) fans are in for double bonanza today as it is the weekend and there are two matches to keep them glued to their television sets. In the first match, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are currently taking on Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). In the other match, Mahendra singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will clash with Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Although excitement is high to see Dhoni vs Kohli battle, both the teams have had consistency issues and have failed to live up to high expectations. Despite their star-studded line-ups neither CSK nor RCB are in top four in the points’ table. The biggest problem for both the teams remains their middle order which has not been able to click so far. A lot will depend on the two skippers’ performance as well in today’s game. Toss, too is likely to play a crucial role as both CSK and RCB struggle to chase big totals.
Statistics are not in Kohli’s favour as RCB have been able to beat CSK only thrice in 11 matches captained by Virat since 2013. Shane Watson and Faf Du Pressis are in good form, which gives Chennai a slight edge over their opponents. RCB will be banking upon their batsmen Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers’ performance who are perfectly capable of changing the complexion of the game.
Take a look at the probable squads for the both the teams:
Chennai Super Kings: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (c, wk), Sam Curran, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Karn Sharma
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers (wk), Chris Morris, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Isuru Udana/Adam Zampa, Gurkeerat Singh Mann/Mohammad Siraj, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal
