Sunrisers Hyderabad’s thumping win over Mumbai Indians in the last league encounter of the Indian Premier League 2020 on Tuesday has confirmed the top four playoffs team of the tournament. The playoff encounters is scheduled to play from November 5.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings were the first team to be eliminated from the race of playoff in the history of IPL. After winning their first match of the season, CSK was consistently failed to perform. However, the team has ended their journey with a win. CSK have also ended the playoff hopes of Kings XI Punjab. Rajasthan Royals became the third team to be knocked out after 60 runs defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders
The defending champion Mumbai Indians with their consistent and dominant attitude has became the first team to seal a berth in IPL 2020 playoffs. Delhi Capitals secured a top-two finish on their way to the Indian Premier League playoffs with a six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore, who is also qualified for the playoff.
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders were fighting for the fourth spot. For occupying the fourth spot in IPL 2020 points table, SRH needed to defeat Mumbai and David Warner’s boys did it in style. With their attacking bowling side, SRH restricted Mumbai at 149. Chasing 149, the opener Wriddhiman Saha and David Warner scored unbeaten half-centuries to registered 10-wicket victory.
The defending champion Mumbai Indians will lock horns against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1 on Thursday. The loser of the Qualifier game will get another chance to play against the winner of Eliminator game which will be held between the RCB and SRH on November 6. The winner will go for Qualifier 2 which is scheduled to be held in Dubai on November 8. The final of the tournament will be played between the winner of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Qualifier 2.
