IPL need to relook at retention policies: Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal says it’s not fair

Ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2022 mega auction, all current 8 teams on November 30 confirmed their list of retained players. While players like KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and David Warner have been released by their respective franchises and will most probably go for the mega auction, scheduled to take place in January 2022.

Many teams including Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals were not happy to release their core of the team for the IPL 2022 mega auction. Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders are the only four teams, which have retained four players to their team.

Business tycoon and Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal showed his disappointment to not be able to retain the core players of his team and said that IPL needs to relook at their retention policy.

Parth while announcing his four retained players said, it is not really fair that teams build a squad, groom youngsters, they go on to play for India but due to this mega auction teams have to lose them.

He also showed his disappointment in not being able to retain players like Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Ravi Ashwin. “Heartbroken about losing Shreyas, Dhawan, Rabada, Ashwin. Going forward IPL needs to look at it. Not fair you build a team, give youngsters chance, then lose them,” said Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal.
