A CRPF bus was damaged on Saturday after an explosion took place in a car on Jammu-Srinagar Highway. No casualties have been reported.

The incident took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district.
An official said that the explosion occurred inside a private car, which was a Santro and completely destroyed the vehicle.

In a statement, the CRPF said, “Today around 10.30 am, an explosion took place in a civil car near Banihal, J&K while CRPF convoy was on move. The car caught fire and slight damage was caused in the rear of one of the CRPF vehicles. No injuries were caused to CRPF personnel. Incident being investigated.”

The incident comes as a surprise as it was decided that no private vehicles will be allowed near the convoy of the security forces when it transverses across the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

It is not clear as of now that whether it was a terrorist attack or an accident but security experts call it yet another security lapse in the troubled northern state.

“The explosion appears to have been caused by a gas cylinder inside the car but this is based on preliminary examination of the car’s wreckage,” a police officer said.

“There was no loss of life…The driver of the car, who was the lone occupant, appears to have escaped,” the officer said.

Further, investigations are on.
