The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on January 12 announced the updated squad for the ODI series against South Africa and replaced Washington Sundar with Jayant Yadav and also added Navdeep Saini into the squad. Which is to be played after the ongoing Test series in South Africa. Just a couple of days ago, all-rounder, Washington Sundar was tested positive for Covid 19 and was excluded from the team India’s ODI squad for the South Africa tour.
The ODI series is scheduled to start on January 19, 2022. Sundar was all set to travel with the Indian team for the upcoming South Africa tour, but after testing positive for the infectious virus, the BCCI has replaced him with the right-arm spinner Jayant Yadav and also added pace bowler Navdeep Saini in the 19-man squad to travel Sout Africa for the ODI tour.
Sundar who was selected for the ODI series has been already out of the Indian team for almost 10 months now, due to injuries. Recently, he recovered from the injuries and was of the Tamil Nadu team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. And once again, he missed the opportunity to play for the Men in Blue.
