The Uttar Pradesh government has sacked Dr Kafeel Khan, who was a paediatrician with the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur. The news of his termination was confirmed by the government spokesperson on Thursday.
Earlier, Kafeel Khan told the news agency IANS that he was waiting for the formal termination order to be served to him. Khan said that he will continue to fight for justice and will challenge the order in court.
After he was terminated, Kafeel Khan posted a video on Twitter in which he said that he was given clean chit but he is being terminated, and those who actually did the crime are roaming free. He further said that fight for justice must go on.
As soon as the news of his termination came out, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the decision of termination of Kafeel Khan by the Uttar Pradesh government is motivated by ill-will. She said that the government that is filled with hate is doing all this to harass him.
She further said that the UP government should keep in mind that their decision is not above the constitution. Priyanka Gandhi concluded by saying that the Congress Party is with Dr Kafeel in his fight for justice and will always be.
For those who don’t know, Dr Kafeel Khan was suspended along with seven others in 2017 along with seven others. He was suspended when over 60 children died due to the shortage of oxygen supply at the BRD hospital. However, seven doctors, except Dr Kafeen Khan were resumed back to duty.
Later, he was also booked by the state government for making inflammatory speeches during the anti-CAA protests in the state.
