Actor Kangana Ranaut on Saturday paid homage at Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s memorial and at Marina Beach in Chennai, ahead of her big release Thalaivii. The film is all set to release on September 10.
Thalaivii is a biopic of actor-turned-politician and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalitha, portrayed by Kangana Ranaut. The film revolves around the life of the iconic figure, capturing her journey from her time in the movies to becoming a politician. MG Ramachandran (MGR) was a mentor figure to Jayalalithaa, the role which Arvind Swami is portraying in the film.
On Friday, Ranaut had shared a promo video of the film in a split screen format where she can be seen performing dance sequences with Arvind Swamy. These sequences represent the on-screen chemistry that Jayalalitha had shared with MG Ramachandran, (three time CM who won three consecutive polls).
Earlier the film was titled as Thalaivi, but after a minor change, it is now titled as Thalaivii. The makers of the film haven’t opened up on the minor title change. The film was earlier scheduled to release on April 23 but due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the film’s release was postponed twice due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Directed by AL Vijay, the film is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh under their banners Vibri Media, Karma Media, And Entertainment in association with Gothic Entertainment and Sprint films respectively.
The film also stars Bhagyashree, Jisshu Sengupta, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. The film is a multilingual biographical drama that has been simultaneously shot in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
