Says government responsible for the present situation
In a series of tweets, Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram has, on Sunday said, that the people of the valley are caught between the two maximalist positions taken by government and militants. He has blamed the BJP led NDA government for the unrest in the state.
Chidambaram also expressed concern about the people who were facing tough time in the valley.
The tweets read:
1/5 On many occasions in the past I had cautioned that the Kashmir issue or problem (or by whatever name it is called) was a festering wound— P. Chidambaram (@PChidambaram_IN) July 16, 2017
3/5 Just as the militants have taken a maximalist position that has to be rejected out of hand, (continued)— P. Chidambaram (@PChidambaram_IN) July 16, 2017
5/5 The casualties are the people of J&K (especially those in the Valley) and the future of the state.— P. Chidambaram (@PChidambaram_IN) July 16, 2017
Chidambaram’s tweets came a week after militants attacked a bus full of Amarnath pilgrims in Anantnag district. A day before, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the security situation in the valley.
